Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay an official visit to China on May 19-20 on the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. This was disclosed by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday.
According to the statement, the visit coincides with the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation, described as a foundational document underpinning relations between the two countries.
The ministry noted that during the visit, the two leaders are expected to discuss current bilateral issues, prospects for further deepening the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between Russia and China, as well as major international and regional matters.
Putin and Xi will also attend the official opening ceremony of the Russia-China Years of Education for 2026-2027.
The statement added that the two sides are expected to sign a joint statement and several bilateral intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents following the talks.
Putin is also scheduled to meet with Chinese Premier Li Qiang to discuss trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. (GSF)
