The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Nigeria, Andrey Podelyshev, have described the relations between China and Russia as being built on the principles of equality, mutual trust, and respect for sovereignty. They noted that the partnership continues to demonstrate resilience and steady progress, remaining an important factor for stability in international affairs.
The envoys made these remarks on Wednesday in Abuja at a joint ceremonial reception held at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria. The event commemorated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Russia–China strategic partnership and the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation.
They emphasized that the China–Russia partnership serves as a vivid example of equitable and mutually respectful relations between states, offering a positive reference point for the international community.
Messrs. Yu and Podelyshev also drew attention to the convergence of Moscow and Beijing’s approaches to cooperation with African countries, including Nigeria, describing them as grounded in the principles of non-interference in internal affairs and mutual benefit.
The reception brought together members of the diplomatic corps, Nigerian government officials, as well as the business community and friends of both nations. (GSF)
