Again, Tinubu Picks Shettima As Running Mate For 2027 Presidential Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has retained Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election, ending months of speculation over who would occupy the position on the party’s ticket.

The APC formally submitted the names of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima as its presidential candidates for the poll on Friday, in Abuja.

This was disclosed by the APC national chairman, Nantawe Yilwatda via his official Facebook account.

According to the national chairman, the nomination forms were presented on behalf of President Tinubu by his Special Adviser on Political and Other Matters, Hon. Ibrahim Masari, at a well-attended ceremony at the Continental Hotel, Abuja.

He said the presentation underscored the confidence of the party in the leadership of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima as they prepare to seek for a renewed mandate come from Nigerians.

Top party officials included the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governors Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, as well as other governors, party executives and critical stakeholders from across the federation.

“As we move towards 2027, the All Progressives Congress remains focused on strengthening its grassroots support, consolidating the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda and working together to build a more prosperous, secure and inclusive Nigeria for all”. Yilwatda said.

The APC’s decision to retain the Tinubu-Shettima ticket signals the party’s confidence in the same leadership pair that secured victory in the 2023 presidential election.(GSF)
