Russian Foreign Minister Sergey to Hold talks with six representatives from African countries on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s High-Level Week.
Kirill Logvinov, director of the Department for International Organisations at the Russian Foreign Ministry, told the TASS news agency.
“Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov has a whole series of bilateral meetings scheduled for today, primarily with representatives of friendly nations, as well as other key global players,” said Logvinov.
Lavrov will hold talks with his counterparts from Algeria, Egypt, Mali, Morocco, Senegal and Sudan.
The Russian minister will also meet with representatives of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), which comprises Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, and with the leadership of other international organisations.
In total, Logvinov stated, the minister will hold more than 30 international meetings.
The UN General Assembly’s High-Level Week is taking place from 22 to 28 September at the organisation’s headquarters in New York. The theme of the 81st session of the General Assembly is ‘Restoring trust, managing transformation: a United Nations that delivers for all’.
Earlier in September, upon his arrival in New York, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa stated that during his international engagements, he intended to discuss the use of digital tools and expanding access to them for developing countries.(Afr Initiative/GSF)
