Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China and the United States should earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and remove disruptions and overcome obstacles to high-level exchanges between the two countries, according to a press release issued by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with David Perdue, ambassador of the United States to China, on Wednesday in Beijing.
Under the guidance of the two heads of state, both sides are working to build a constructive relationship of strategic stability, Wang noted.
He said facts show that improving bilateral ties, coexisting peacefully on the basis of mutual respect, and achieving win-win cooperation serves the fundamental interests of both peoples and meets the international community’s shared expectations.
Both sides should earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, focus on a constructive agenda, and properly manage differences, he said, calling for efforts to remove disruptions and overcome obstacles to high-level exchanges and push bilateral ties toward stable, healthy and sustainable development.
Both sides are ready to strengthen communication and cooperation to prepare for the next phase of high-level interactions and build a constructive relationship of strategic stability on the basis of respect and reciprocity, Perdue said.
Perdue expressed condolences on behalf of the U.S. side over the casualties caused by a mudslide that struck a port along the China-Nepal border in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region on Wednesday.
