Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead the country’s delegation at the third Russia–Africa Summit, which will take place in Moscow on 28–29 October, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Russia Joseph Olusola Iji told TASS News Agency on Wednesday.

“The Vice President of Nigeria will lead the government delegation,” the diplomat said in response to a question.

According to Iji, Nigeria is expected to send a high-level delegation to the summit. The ambassador also noted the importance of the upcoming event for the development of bilateral relations between the two countries.

“We want to deepen our relations with Russia and with Russian businesses,” the envoy added.

The first Russia–Africa Summit was held in Sochi in October 2019 under the co-chairmanship of the Russian president and the Chairperson of the African Union, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The second summit took place in St Petersburg in August 2023. (Afr Initiative/GSF)
