Russia has developed the Krechet, a fixed-wing interceptor capable of reaching speeds of up to 450 km/h, enabling it to chase down and intercept enemy UAVs, Alexey Chadayev, head of the Ushkuynik research and production center, told Sputnik in an interview.
According to Chadayev, Krechet anti drone is powered by two electric motors and can be launched from a catapult.
He said its backward-swept wings boost maneuverability and reduce the interceptor’s size.
Chadayev said Krechet can carry a warhead or destroy targets kinetically using its speed and mass.
It is fast enough to intercept Ukrainian fixed-wing drones such as the Lyutyi, which has a top speed of up to 200 km/h
The Krechet is engineered to rapidly reach an enemy drone’s flight path, get behind it and carry out the interception without needing to be deployed with firing teams or on mobile platforms. (Afr Initiative/GSF)
