Xi says advancing women’s development is international community’s shared responsibility
President Xi Jinping on Monday said that it is the international community’s shared responsibility to advance the development of women.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women held in Beijing, Xi said that women are important creators, promoters and inheritors of human civilization.
Xi puts forward proposals to advance women’s all-round development.
Xi said that the proposals were introduced to build a wider consensus, open up broader pathways and take more practical actions for this cause, as women’s all-round development is still facing complex challenges.
Xi says China achieves historic progress in women’s development
Xi said that China had secured victory in the most extensive anti-poverty campaign in human history and led its 690 million women in marching together into a moderately prosperous society, achieving the poverty reduction goal outlined in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development ahead of schedule.
Xi says women in China hold up ‘half the sky’ in economic, social development
In the new era, Chinese women are participating in the whole process of national and social governance with unprecedented confidence and vitality, Xi said.
“On the new journey of Chinese modernization, every woman is a protagonist,” he said.
Xi announces measures to support global women’s cause:
Over the next five years, China will donate an additional $10 million to UN Women, Xi said.
Meanwhile, China will earmark $100 million from the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund for cooperation with international organizations on projects to promote women’s and girls’ development, Xi said.

2⃣We should jointly cultivate powerful momentum for the high-quality development of women’s cause.
3⃣We should jointly develop governance frameworks to protect women’s rights and interests.
