Russia to be Represented at G20 Summit in South Africa by Maxim Oreshkin

The Russian delegation at the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in South Africa will be headed by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Maxim Oreshkin. The corresponding order was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin

 

The delegation will also include Head of the Presidential Expert Directorate Denis Agafonov, Russia’s G20 Sherpa Svetlana Lukash, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Pankin and Deputy Minister of Finance Ivan Chebeskov.

 

In October, Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary to Vladimir Putin, stated that the President would not attend the G20 summit in South Africa, but that the Russian Federation would be represented “at an appropriately high level”.

 

  1. The Group of Twenty summit will take place on 22–23 November in Johannesburg. South Africa assumed the G20 presidency on 1 December 2024; it will hold it until 30 November 2025, after which it will pass to the United States. The main theme of this period, as declared by South Africa, is “Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability”. (African Initiative/GSF)
