Tanzania’s general elections were conducted “with maximum transparency and in accordance with democratic principles,” according to a statement by the country’s Foreign Minister Mahmud Thabit Kombo.

“The citizens of Tanzania peacefully exercised their constitutional right by casting their votes. And on 1 November 2025, the Independent National Electoral Commission announced the results, according to which [incumbent President] Samia Suluhu Hassan secured a convincing victory,” TASS quoted the statement as saying.

Kombo acknowledged that some isolated incidents involving violations of law and order occurred in certain parts of the country at the end of the voting process. However, he noted that law enforcement agencies “acted swiftly, professionally and decisively” to ensure that these isolated incidents “did not escalate into larger-scale unrest.”

On 29 October, incumbent President Samia Suluhu Hassan won the presidential election, securing 97.66% of the vote. She ran as the candidate of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM, “Party of the Revolution”). The election period was marked by protests that escalated into riots, with participants setting fire to police stations and blocking roads.

Samia Suluhu Hassan condemned the post-election protests, calling the demonstrations “unpatriotic.”
