President of Gabon Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema paid an official visit to Türkiye, where he held talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. During the meeting, the parties signed eight co-operation agreements, the Office of the President of Gabon reported.

“Eight wide-ranging agreements were signed in strategically important areas: military co-operation, energy, mining, hydrocarbons, healthcare, education, vocational training and financial support. This is an unprecedented diplomatic and economic shift — a foundation for fruitful partnerships based on reciprocity, trust and the fulfilment of commitments,” the statement read.

Nguema also emphasised that the agreements demonstrate Gabon’s commitment to progress in the economy, international relations and the development of human capital. According to the president, the agreements include not only technical co-operation, but also knowledge and experience transfer, training of professionals and the implementation of mechanisms to improve governance.

During his visit to Ankara, the Gabonese leader also met with representatives of the diaspora and held talks with investors interested in investing in Gabon. According to Nguema, Türkiye expressed its willingness to invest in the development of infrastructure, energy, healthcare and urban planning in Libreville.

In early July, the president of Gabon visited Washington, where he met with US President Donald Trump. During the meeting, Nguema called on the United States to invest in mineral processing in Gabon.
