On November 18, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai met with Senator Babangida Hussaini, Chairman of the Senate Committee on North West Development Commission.
In a statement from the Chinese Embassy in Abuja, qouted Ambassador Yu stating that practical cooperation between China and Nigeria in various fields has achieved rapid development since President Tinubu’s state visit to China last year. He noted that trade volume between China and Nigeria has exceeded 20 billion US dollars in the first three quarters of this year, registering a substantial growth compared with last year.
Yu firther declared that the recent recommendations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, reviewed and adopted by the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee, states that China will continue to adhere to expanding high-standard opening-up, which brings significant benefits to the development of all countries.
He added that the zero-tariff policy with Nigeria is one of the important measures for China to expand opening-up, Emphasising that China is working closely with Nigeria to promote the early implementation of the zero-tariff policy to boost Nigeria’s high-quality development.
In his response, Senator Hussani spoke highly of China’s achievements and thanked China for its important contributions to Nigeria in economic and social development. He expressed hope for the early implementation of the zero-tariff policy in Nigeria and the willingness to strengthen cooperation with China in the of fields infrastructure development, construction, agriculture and capacity building to achieve common development.
