On 25 November 2025, H.E. Yu Dunhai, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nigeria, met with H.E. Ali Pate, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
During the meeting, Ambassador Yu spoke highly of Minister Pate’s recent successful visit to China, noting that the visit further enhanced mutual understanding and promoted positive progress in China–Nigeria health cooperation.
Yu highlighted that the Recommendations for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan adopted at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, reaffirm China’s commitment to high-level opening-up and its determination to offer new opportunities to countries around the world through the achievements of Chinese-style modernization.
He further stressed that China and Nigeria enjoy a solid foundation and great potential for cooperation in the health sector, and that China stands ready to maintain close communication with the Nigerian side to advance practical cooperation and deliver more tangible outcomes.
Minister Pate in his response expressed appreciation for China’s long-standing support for Nigeria’s health sector. He briefed Ambassador Yu on his discussions and cooperation with relevant Chinese government departments, enterprises, and research institutions during his visit to China.
Minister Pate stated that Nigeria is ready to work with China to accelerate the implementation of agreed cooperation projects and further enhance the country’s health service capacity. (GSF)
