As Nigeria joined the global community to mark International Workers’ Day 2026, the Director General of Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), Joseph Tegbe has hailed the nation’s workforce as the driving force behind economic transformation and stronger bilateral ties with China.
In a statement personnaly signed by him, Tegbe said this year’s commemoration went beyond celebrating labour, serving as a reminder that sustainable growth and long-term development can only be achieved by investing in people. He noted that empowering workers through access to opportunities, skills development, inclusion, and equitable systems was essential to unlocking human potential and ensuring shared prosperity.
The Director-General further underscored the importance of people in shaping the future of both nations, noting that every milestone in Nigeria–China relations is driven by individuals whose dedication and collaboration turn vision into measurable impact.
He stressed that conversations around workers’ dignity must result in tangible outcomes, including access to innovation, capacity building, and systems that enable meaningful contribution.
According to him, NCSP continues to connect Nigerian talent with Chinese expertise through strategic engagements to accelerate industrial growth and economic development. He revealed that NCSP has over the years secured investment commitments across key sectors such as agriculture, automotive manufacturing, mining, steel production, and energy – reinforcing its mission to foster transformative partnerships that deliver long-term value for Nigeria.
He said as the global world of work evolves, NCSP will continue with the commitment to promoting partnerships that not only deepen bilateral cooperation but also improve livelihoods, empower communities, and support inclusive, people-centred growth for a more prosperous future. (GSF )
