Voice of Nigeria (VON) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with Xinhua News Agency to deepen mutual understanding, cultural exchange and responsible storytelling across Africa and Asia. The deal marks a fresh step in media cooperation between Nigeria and China through stronger editorial and broadcast collaboration.

The agreement builds on the 2024 Nigeria-China Media Exchange and Cooperation Framework and will see both organisations co-produce a weekly 15-minute Sino-Africa Cooperation news programme in Mandarin. The initiative is expected to widen audience reach and strengthen coverage of shared interests across both regions.
VON Director-General, Mallam Jibrin Baba-Ndace, said the pact reflects the organisation’s focus on People, Platform and Partnerships, while Xinhua Africa Regional Bureau President, Ying Qiang, said it would boost inclusivity, expand linguistic access and connect global audiences to balanced Africa-China stories.
