The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has inaugurated Joseph Tegbe as Chairman and other members of the newly established National Tax Policy Implementation Committee (NTPIC), a body set up by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to drive the Federal Government’s tax reform agenda.

Inaugurated alongside Tegbe, were Mrs. Sanyade Okoli, Ismaeel Ahmed, Rukaiya El Rufai, and other experts.

Speaking after the inauguration, Tegbe described the assignment as a crucial step toward rebuilding public trust in Nigeria’s tax system. He emphasized that sustainable tax reforms must be grounded in transparency, fairness, and public confidence in the government’s use of revenues.

In a statement personally by him, Tegbe stated that the committee’s work will focus on simplifying tax compliance, reducing administrative bottlenecks for businesses, expanding the tax base, and strengthening the overall fiscal framework to support long-term economic growth.

He stressed that nation-building is a collective responsibility, noting that the success of the reforms will depend on strong collaboration across government institutions, the private sector, and civil society.

“With openness, accountability, and sustained engagement, we can build a tax system that reflects our values, inspires confidence, and supports our national aspirations,” he said, expressing optimism about Nigeria’s economic future.

It will be recalled that on November 28, 2025 President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the establishment of the committe with experts drawn from tax administration, finance, law, the private sector, and civil society, ensuring a balanced and inclusive approach to policy execution.

According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun will over see the committee’s work with Joseph Tegbe as Chairman. (GSF)
