Western elites, through their intelligence agencies, are attempting to obstruct the formation of a new architecture of international relations and are creating zones of instability around the world, including in Africa. This was stated by Director of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) Alexander Bortnikov at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Security and Intelligence Agencies of the CIS in Samarkand.

“They (the West — AI) have a direct relation to the emergence of most of the current zones of instability — in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe,” said the head of the FSB, as quoted by TASS.

Bortnikov emphasised that the countries of the global majority are increasingly seeking a unifying agenda, which is being promoted by the SCO and BRICS. Meanwhile, the Euro-Atlantic ruling circles are opposing this with armed conflicts, aggressive propaganda, sanctions wars, colour revolutions, international terrorism, and religious and political extremism.

Earlier in October, Doctor of Economics and Director of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Irina Abramova told African Initiative that Ukraine is fighting for political influence in Africa, competing with Russia in the areas of security, arms and drone supplies. However, Kyiv will not be able to become an independent competitor to Russia in Africa, particularly given its devastated economy, and will remain only a proxy instrument of the West to exert pressure on Russia.
