China said on Wednesday that the abiding commitment of the international community to the one-China principle is unshakable and the historical trend that China will and must achieve reunification is unstoppable.
Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks during a regular press briefing in Beijing when asked to comment on Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s recent reaffirmation that Taiwan is part of China during an interview.
Lin said that upholding the one-China principle meets the shared aspiration of the people and is the right thing to do. The abiding commitment of the international community to the one-China principle is unshakable.
“China appreciates Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s remarks,” Lin said.
He reiterated that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is inalienable part of China’s territory.
“The historical trend that China will and must achieve reunification is unstoppable,” Lin said. (Xinhua/GSF)
