The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, has commended the Emir of Lafia, His Royal Highness Muhammad I, for his commitment to promoting China-Nigeria friendship and bilateral relations.
Ambassador Yu made the commendation during an official visit to Nasarawa State on Wednesday, following an invitation from the traditional ruler.
The envoy described China and Nigeria as ancient civilisations with shared cultural values, emphasising China’s appreciation of the Emir’s role in advancing bilateral relations.
He reaffirmed China’s readiness to work with Nigeria to strengthen local cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, contributing to the sustained and high-quality development of China-Nigeria relations.
In his response, Emir Muhammad I praised China’s development achievements and expressed appreciation for its contributions to Nigeria’s economic and social development, particularly in Nasarawa State.
He reaffirmed the Lafia Emirate Council’s commitment to deepening practical cooperation and local exchanges with China to ensure that both countries’ peoples benefit from their partnership.
In honour of Ambassador Yu, the Emir organised a traditional Durbar ceremony in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The ambassador also donated essential household items to the Lafia community through the Lafia Emirate Council, a gesture warmly received by local residents. (GSF)
